The 9,120-square-foot Fairfield house was built in 2009 but its centerpiece — the portion that houses the cavernous great room — is actually a reclaimed barn. For centuries, the chestnut barn serviced a Monroe farm. According to the real estate agent, the barn was days away from being bulldozed when it was rescued by a crew of volunteers.
